Writing
At nights, in class and during travelling.... I've always been writing on little pieces of paper :-) . Through the years, I've published columns, stories, poems, articles, recipes and more both on the internet and in various magazines. Most of them in my mothertongue - Dutch. But I dream about more publications in other languages, so, if you have a (school)paper, an own magazine or a website and you like me to write something for you, please let me know!
About music
As a musicologist, I devide my activities between the writing of music and the writing on music. I write for the Concertgebouw, Radio 4, de Klassieke Muziek Agenda and many musical journals, like DeKlank, Klassieke Zaken and - of course - my own Encore!Magazine. Most of my work consist of liner-notes, but I also write columns, reviews, interviews and advertorials about classical music and dance.
EducationalSince Encore!Magazine is used as material for artclasses in secondary schools, I'm often asked to contribute to good old fashioned schoolbooks. It started out with some lessons about Beethoven and Picasso, but now, I've also written about biology, law, history and the social siences. Most of my work is voor Wolters-Noordhoff, the largest publisher of schoolbooks in the Netherlands. Next to that, I also write and program (XML) for the on-line learning centre Bloqs.
On-lineBesides magazines, I also write for various websites I created. I want to reach a new audience, so therefore I'm very glad that a couple of nice Dutch webcats republished my columns about classical music on their sites! :) Before publishing a new column/article/review/interview etc., I often post it on my weblog. This way, friends and other visitors can critisize my work, so that I can improve my writing. *happy* Diary
Last but not least: to me, my selfmade Dairy is my most important piece of work. It consists of many journals, holded together by various ceramic covers. I use my journals as a place to put the things that spill out over the edges of my life: photo's & negatives, scraps of paper, poems and songs, letters and questions. My journals have become my memory, to read back the nice little things I had already forgotton about. Parts of my Diary were published on my weblog and in various Dutch magazines, such as Yes, Mens & Melodie, Fancy and Libelle. And - of course - my Dairy is also a source of inspiration for Encore!Magazine.
Dream...
Of course I dream about writing a book (even had some offers, but I don't think I write well enough, yet), but another major dream is to write about Dutch music - in Russian. Perhaps even in a Russian edition of Encore!Magazine? Who knows, one day... I already published articles in English and German.
