Cello

The sound of the cello has always been a draw for me and I've learned a lot about myself through playing the cello. But originally, I started playing the cello, because I love to play in ensembles. And though I enjoy performing, sometimes it is delightful to get together a quartette of keen musicians and play for hours at a time, with no thought of gain or applause, with no thought but to express the beauty of the music. *dreams away*

Modern cello was my minor in the conservatory of Tilburg and when I moved to Utrecht I switched to baroque cello with Elske Tinbergen. But still kept playing modern cello, in our Lorenz Trio and with my friend Merel in Zoroaster - a string ensemble for modern music. Cello recordings

Next to playing in many ensembles, like my own Tutti Celli, I really enjoy recording. I played cello in one of Mozart's quartets on the cd Position 2 (De Haske Publications B.V.) and was an orchestra member in the cd with Mozarts Requiem (Brabants Conservatorium). In the ART4U youth orchestra I played as a principal cellist and soloist on various DVD's by PurpleVision and my own documentary project Gestolde Tijd. David Weertman and I - aka Solaris - played an Uccelini Sonata for the promocd of the music school in Valkenswaard and together with my friend, the violinist Karin van Kooten, I took care of the string parts on the latest album of the Dutch rock band Supernatural. Besides that, I also played violin&cello on the soundtracks of Marc Cuppens' film Life and the Dutch TV film Kim.

As a composer/arranger, I published a book with English and Irish Duets for cello (De Haske Publications B.V.) and various pieces for cello solo, string quartet, cello and piano etc. in Encore!Magazine.
